Anse Marron beach of la Digue island – Mahe Seychelles

Anse Marron is the southern most beach on La Digue; unlike any other beach in the world this one is completely unique. The unique part about this beach is that it has a natural pool in it; a pool formed by granite boulders. These boulders give the beach its scenic appearance but they aren’t there just for the beauty. The saltwater lake is formed due to these boulders protecting the visitors from the deep waters and the mighty waves which occasionally come to shore during high tide.

Being one of the rarest places on Earth it is also one of the hardest to find and it is recommended that the travelers be accompanied by tour guides, which the hotels would be happy to help with, it also recommended that children be not taken along the journey as it is an enduring one. Though being remote and almost inaccessible the view is breath taking and is completely worth the effort to get here.

Salient Features:

Natural Pool:

One of the main features this beach known for is its natural salt water pool. Being one of the lesser accessible beaches on the La Digue island, the tranquillity and the calmness gives a feeling of serenity. The natural pool is created by boulders out in the sea which give the pool a boundary and also provides protecting from the waves. Due to this fact, one can just enjoy their time in the pool without worrying about the current.

Granite Boulders:

These boulders give the beach its scenic appearance. The beach covered by boulders surprisingly does not seem too intimidating but looks like they have been placed there a purpose to make the beach even more beautiful. These boulders are also responsible for the natural pool at the end of the beach. Without these boulders, there wouldn’t be a pool and just waves and a shoreline.

Almost inaccessible:

One might wonder how being almost inaccessible is a good thing, well being almost inaccessible gives the beach a calmness and with very few visitors willing to make the journey through the slippery roads. For those who made the journey peace and tranquillity awaits along with the magnificent views due to the large boulders, crystal clear waters.

White sand:

The white crescent adds to the scenic appearance of the crystal clear waters, shallow pool and the majestic boulders. With only a few people visiting per day this beach can be all to yourself to enjoy by just lying down in the sand or having a swim in its magnificent pool.

Snorkeling:

One thing that isn’t possible here would be snorkeling as this is the southernmost beach there are no coral reefs here and due to deep waters one could easily be sucked in. Although the white crescent sand is awe inspiring and just a joy to look at with the gigantic boulders adding to it the scenic experience.
