Getting there:

Accessible only on foot, a 30-40-minute walk through the trail just behind the Grand Anse beach of la Digue island brings you over a beautiful pond with granite rocks to your left, further down the trail is an amazing view of the tropical vegetation leading to the hike part of the journey where a steep track guides you into the forest. After a short hike, you will end up on the sandy shores of Petite Anse. From here an unmarked trail takes you to a bridge leading to another forest beyond which is Anse Cocos beach. Welcomed by a wooden sign the 450-meter-long beach is a haven for travelers and photographers alike.

Since the beach is accessible only on foot the closest restaurants or hotels are about a kilometer away.

Welcoming travelers who braved to take the 30-40-minute hike is a wooden sign at sea level. Unlike the Grand Anse and the Petite Anse, the Anse Cocos is a fairly small beach with minimal vegetation providing shade for its visitors. Also unlike Grand Anse and Petite Anse, the waters here are much calmer offering an experience to dive into the shallow depths of the beach. Although caution is advised as during strong winds the waves can be a bit rough and therefore suitable only for the confident swimmers. But for those who aren’t, the beach offers a natural pool situated at the end of the beach created by the surrounding boulders protecting its visitors from all kinds of strong waves.

Being one the lesser accessible beaches on the Island it is visited by a very small group of travelers which on average is about 10 per day which gives the beach its quiet and calm atmosphere. Some of the jaw-dropping features of this beach is its natural pool surrounded by graphite boulders, its crystal-clear waters, the calm and tranquility that prevails throughout the beach all put together is a beauty of nature.
